Job Description:

Charge Capture Specialist collaborates with department managers, directors and/or other designated contacts to continually improve and maintain the efficiency and accuracy of the overall charging process. Charge Capture Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all appropriate charges are captured to maximize revenue.  Identifies, analyzes and reconciles billing errors or omissions by reviewing documentation and educates clinical staff on proper charting technique to reduce errors. Enters charges and completes audits daily.  Works closely with Compliance staff to ensure all charge master codes are up to date and accurate.  Charge Capture Specialist works with the assigned department to ensure appropriate revenue capture process for all the new service offerings and supplies as well as advises on revenue impact of all operations improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • 2 to 3 years in hospital or medical clinic billing required
  • Understanding of CDM
  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
  • 2 to 3 years in the medical health field with medical terminology
  • Understanding of CPT, HCPCS and ICD9/ICD10 preferred
  • Experience in healthcare
  • Organizational, analytical, writing and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable and self directed
  • Critical thinking, problem solving and deductive reasoning skills
  • Basic computer skills - familiarity with Windows based software programs
  • Daily dashboard and daily revenue (clinic)
  • Denial’s management and reports
  • Decision support
  • Analyze daily revenue for potential concerns and work with department managers to correct issues
  • Provide revenue cycle training and onboarding to new managers
