Job Description:

The Manager, External Affairs & Communications for Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Eastern Regional Medical Center (ERMC) plays a vital role in the company’s continued rapid growth.  

The successful Manager, External Affairs & Communications will develop, create, and distribute brand differentiating content that helps build awareness and credibility of the Cancer Treatment Centers of America brand.  A creative, service-minded professional, the Manager, External Affairs & Communications will collaborate in the strategic development of the CTCA public relations plan and oversee implementation, execution and impact at ERMC.

The Manager, External Affairs & Communications will have significant leadership visibility at the highest levels of the organization (hospital, clinical, corporate) presenting strategic communications/media plans for specific disease profiles.

The Manager, External Affairs & Communications will be accountable for:

  • Managing a team of two communications professionals

  • Content management, including cataloguing disease specific content identifiable to ERMC

  • Brand management and promotion

  • Regional media relations execution and contributing to regional and national earned media efforts; including Social Media efforts

  • Regional marketing support

  • Internal communications at the hospital and contribute to stakeholder communications throughout the CTCA system

  • Budget management


  • Minimum of a BS/BA in Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing or a related field. 

  • Experience working with or developing marketing campaigns

  • Experience developing collateral materials (and any of the tools within that realm)

  • Placing and buying advertising

  • Media experience: response, crisis communications

  • Social media development, launch

  • Must have developed communications and media relations strategies. Including social media programs.

  • Must have a minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant public relations experience, preferably in a management capacity.

  • Must demonstrate expert media relations, story development and pitching skills. 

  • Must have real world experience that illustrates how the candidate measures the business impact of a well-executed public relations strategy.

  • Must have a working knowledge of brand standard and management

  • Must have developed collateral and other supporting materials for specific business lines, strategies, or initiatives
