Position Overview

The Lead Sterile Processing Technician will assist in providing the highest quality patient care by supervising stakeholders working in Sterile Processing in the performance of daily job duties and responsibilities.  This position will be responsible for providing support, training and communication in accordance with Department of Health, Joint Commission, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN guidelines.  The individual in this role supports and coaches stakeholders as necessary for decontamination, processing, assembly and sterilization processes within all set standards and regulations.  The Lead Sterile Processing Technician oversees the appropriate maintenance of all sterility and quality logs within the Sterile Processing Department.  The individual in this position will work with frontline stakeholders and departmental leadership to identify areas for process improvement and assist in implementation of process improvement initiatives,  The Lead Sterile Processing Technician will also be responsible to perform the job duties of a Sterile Processing Technician.   

The Supply Processing Technician performs and participates in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging of surgical materials to include, but not limited to, instruments and equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterile and functioning supply of materials.

Key Position Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of an IAHCSMM/CBSPD Central Service Technician course required.
  • CRCST certification required
  • A minimum of 2 years current experience working as a Central Service Technician required.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel) a plus. 

Must have knowledge of appropriate handling and processing of surgical instrumentation and endoscopy equipment.  Must possess knowledge of regulatory guidelines and unit policies pertaining to Sterile Processing.  Must possess basic skills in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
