Job Overview

The Data Engineer will be responsible for supporting the development of a healthcare data factory pipeline within a cloud environment.  The ideal candidate is an experienced data factory engineer with a proven record of building data pipeline systems preferably in multi-tenant healthcare data environment.   The Data Engineer will work closely with our Software Engineers, DevOps, and Data Analysts. They must be comfortable working both independently and as part of the larger data factory team in a complex, fluid environment.  

Responsibilities for Data Engineer

  • Develop and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture - including development related to data acquisition and monitoring, data quality, integration, normalization, and analytics development.
  • Adhere to good code practices within an agile environment with a DevOps  approach to development and implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering products in a CI/CD environment.

Qualifications for Data Engineer

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of large, complex data set integration (ETL) in a data factory environment - preferably using healthcare data from a variety of data sources including EMR, claims, pharmacy, unstructured data, etc.
  • Experience working with unstructured data sets.
  • Develop/design appropriate orchestration and structures supporting data transformation, metadata, code dependency and workload management.
  • Experience with microservices development, event-based architecture, message queuing,  and highly scalable large data stores.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and working within complex cross-team environments.
  • 7+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another quantitative field.
  • Experience with big data tools: Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, etc.
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Oracle, Postgres, DynamoDB, etc.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, RDS, Lambda, AWS SFTP, Redshift, etc.
  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Java, Scala, etc.
  • Experience with code delivery/versioning software: GitLab, Maven, Bamboo, etc.
