Position Overview


The Coordinator of Patient Safety is responsible for tracking, communicating to key stakeholder groups and ensuring appropriate follow-up of actual patient safety related events and near misses across the enterprise to both mitigate future risk and learn as an organization. This includes oversight of CTCA’s incident reporting system (RL6) to ensure full and efficient system utilization, data analysis, reporting and trending, and implementation of system improvements and upgrades. The Coordinator will also be responsible for supporting and monitoring the implementation across the regional medical centers of a high reliability culture and tools (HPI journey) including leader safety methods and stakeholder behavior expectations. Further, the coordinator will be responsible for staffing CTCA’s Lateral Integration Team for the Enterprise (LITE) to support ongoing cross-center collaboration with respect to Root Cause Analyses/Failure Mode Effects Analyses, conducting the bi-annual AHRQ survey process, working with CTCA’s Safety Champion Program, and partnering with Center for Learning. The position reports to the Vice President of Quality, Patient Safety & Clinical Outcomes.


Key Position Qualifications


  • Minimum of a BS/BA in healthcare/business administration, statistics/mathematics, information management, nursing, psych, research/public health, medical records or a related health field.
  • Graduate degree strongly preferred, but may consider certificate programs and experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years experience in healthcare patient safety, risk management or quality.
