Our Family

We are one family - empowered by individuals

Our employees are an extremely important asset to our family. We refer to them as stakeholders because they have a stake in our ability to help win the fight against cancer every day. Our stakeholders know that everything they do on a daily basis ultimately supports the care of the patients and caregivers, and genuinely makes a difference in the lives of others.

At Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), at Eastern Regional Medical Center, you have the opportunity to succeed while having the support you need to achieve that success. Our leadership team believes in empowering stakeholders to participate in their ongoing growth and development to ensure we have a healthy, loyal, fully-performing stakeholder in every role.

Welcome to a place that our stakeholders voted as The Best Place to Work in Philadelphia. At Eastern Regional Medical Center, innovation is a part of our culture. You will have the support of a dynamic team of co-workers, and will be empowered to make decisions to best serve our patients. We are a unique team of individuals who are extremely passionate about what we do.

Take a leap of faith and embark on a journey where you will meet truly genuine people. We promise this will be one of the best journeys you have taken thus far because everyday you will have the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life, just like the young man in the poem below made a difference in one starfish’s life:

The Starfish Poem
Attributed to Loren Eiseley

Once upon a time there was a wise man who used to go to go to the ocean to do his writing.
He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.
One day he was walking along the shore.
As he looked down the beach, he saw a human figure moving like a dancer.
He smiled to himself to think of someone who would dance to the day.
So he began to walk faster to catch up. As he got closer he called out,
“Good morning! What are you doing?” The young man paused, looked up and replied,
“Throwing starfish in the ocean.”
“I guess I should have asked, why are you throwing starfish in the ocean?”
“The sun is up and the tide is going out. And if I don’t throw them in they’ll die.”
“But, young man, don’t you realize that there are miles of beach and starfish all along it.
You can’t possibly make a difference!”
The young man listened politely. Then bent down,
picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea, past the breaking waves and said -
“It made a difference for that one.

At Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Eastern Regional Medical Center, we take The Starfish Poem to heart and try to emulate the same type of compassion to our patients. Each year we choose one individual or department for the following categories:

  • Compassionate Award
  • Empowering Award
  • Responsive Award
  • Innovative Award
  • Team-Spirited Award
