JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Coder of Professional Physician Services is responsible for coding the professional component for both inpatient and outpatient claims. These services include physician visits, consultation services, ancillary department services such as cardiopulmonary, radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and surgery. This individual must be proficient in diagnostic coding (ICD-9) and procedural coding (CPT).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• CPC or CCS-P
• 2-3 years' experience as a physician coder
• 2-3 years' experience in ICD-9 & CPT coding
• Familiarity with Correct Coding Initiative Edits, National and Local Coverage Determinations
• Proficiency in internet usage of CMS sites and other coding sites
• Must be able to access reports in the electronic medical record.
• Must be familiar with Encoder, Code Correct, and other billing systems as needed
