Charge Nurse / Nurse Educator-Stem Cell Transplant Unit

We are currently recruiting for a full-time Charge Nurse / Educator to work 8-hour day shifts primarily Monday-Friday with a start time most likely between 9-10:00 AM in our Stem Cell Transplant Unit.

Job Summary/Purpose:

The Charge Nurse / Nurse Educator is responsible for the coordination of the organizational wide plan for orientation, education, and training of staff, along with Education Department members who have similar responsibilities and accountabilities. These coordination activities include assessing, planning, implementing and evaluation of educational programs, which are directed toward the achievement of excellence in patient care. The Nurse Educator also participates in the development of patient education programs that are designed to meet the needs of patients (of the adult age groups).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Pennsylvania RN license required or eligible for immediate Pennsylvania licensure.
  • CRR/BCLS and ACLS Certifications required.
  • ACLS and CPR/BCLS Instructor-level certification preferred.
  • Baccalaureate Degree or equivalent required.
  • Master's Degree in Education or Healthcare field preferred.
  • Three years Clinical/Teaching Experience required.
  • Bone Marrow Transplant Program experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience conducting Apheresis on Patients preferred.
  • Demonstrates ability in Adult Learning methods.
  • Strong verbal/writing and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to use computer and software; Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other software as required.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform light to medium work, which includes lifting, objects weighing no greater than 30 pounds. It is expected that the Education Coordinator will request assistance from a co-worker for lifting any object greater than 30 pounds
  • Ability to stand/walk 6 to 8 hours per shift
  • Ability to frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop and occasionally kneel and squat
  • Ability to perform various repetitive tasks, i.e.: simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation (keyboard operations)
  • Good visual acuity and hearing are required for effective verbal and written communication
